Small Rounded Bowl.
I have always drawn and designed and love the energy of random lines or marks, either from a sketch or painting or found on stones or peeling paint. I enjoy how just a simple line can change the feeling of a piece.
My work is a collection of thrown, uncomplicated forms. I throw and turn the pieces to a quite fine finish which, when unglazed and sanded, gives the porcelain the paper-like, tactile quality I like, where I can apply my marks as spontaneously as possible. I wait for the pieces to be dry, as I like to work on the chalky surface, before using stains, oxides and slip, splashing or sanding away areas and inlaying lines, aiming to create pleasingly imperfect and unpredictable marks.
