From her studio in South Wales, close to the Gower coast, Ruby makes original and unique porcelain jewellery. Each piece is formed by hand, then glazed and fired using a variety of techniques. Locally sourced, high quality materials are used and crafted to a high level to create beautifully detailed one of a kind pieces.
Ruby graduated with BA hons in Visual Art, specialising in print making and History of Art in 1996. She followed this with a post graduate certificate in education and teaches Art and Design to secondary school students. This is where her love of ceramics has grown, from continually experimenting and developing new skills within her teaching.
In 2011, friends and colleagues encouraged her to begin selling her work after receiving jewellery as gifts. So Ruby set out and began attending produce markets and craft fairs which enabled her to meet many like minded creative people. It has been at these events that she has met gallery and shop owners who now stock her work. Ruby also runs workshops locally and around the UK.
Ruby Anne's new porcelain jewellery collection takes inspiration from walks on the Gower Peninsula. The edge of land, where we meet the sea. Ruby has to captured the beauty of the experience of colour, light and reflection through the application of gold lustres which are applied as a third firing and leave a 24ct gold and white gold surface.
