My preferred materials are charcoal and watercolour. I normally draw several preparatory sketches from observation in the setting with charcoal to establish tone and composition. I then work quickly and intuitively to capture what originally excited me, always sticking to a limited colour palette and often moving away from the figurative to the more subjective or abstract.

Living high in the Chilterns, my inspiration comes from the natural beauty of the landscape around me and the constantly changing light and colour.

My discovery of art has opened up a whole new and thrilling world to me. I now see things I never noticed before and compositions spring into view many, many times a day. Then there is the beauty revealed in all those mundane objects I previously took for granted and the endless opportunities to head to my studio and take on the next challenge!
